Hello Mobile Starts Selling SIM Cards at GS25... 5-Minute Self Activation
LG HelloVision Hello Mobile announced on the 4th that it will start selling SIM cards at convenience store chain ‘GS25’ nationwide. With Hello Mobile expanding its convenience store distribution partnerships, consumers are expected to easily enjoy affordable phone benefits at most of the 40,000 convenience stores near their homes, including GS25, CU, Emart24, and Ministop.
Hello Mobile will further accelerate its ‘lifestyle-focused distribution strategy’ based on its partnership with GS25. Amid the high inflation era and the growing trend of frugal spending, the number of young consumers saving on communication costs by combining unlocked phones and affordable phones has surged. The plan is to increase accessibility to affordable phones through convenience stores familiar to these consumers. In particular, GS25, with over 17,000 stores nationwide, is the industry leader, enhancing customer accessibility.

Starting today, customers can find Hello Mobile SIM cards at GS25 stores nationwide. After purchasing a SIM card, customers can sign up for their desired LTE or 5G SIM plan through Hello Mobile’s official online mall and complete self-activation within 5 minutes.
To celebrate the launch at GS25, a special promotion has been prepared. Until January 3rd next year, all customers who purchase and activate Hello Mobile SIM cards at GS25 stores will receive the basic subscription benefits from the official online mall (mobile gift certificates, 6 months free OTT service, discount coupons for all products at Jecheoljangteo) plus an additional ‘GS25 Convenience Store Mobile Voucher (5,000 KRW)’. Additionally, 200 customers will be selected by lottery to receive various random gifts such as ▲soundbars ▲eye massagers ▲wireless earphones.
The GS25 SIM cards eliminate the need to wait for delivery and allow immediate self-activation, significantly reducing the time until actual use. Office workers in their 30s and 40s who find it difficult to find time on weekdays can visit nearby convenience stores during lunch or dinner breaks. In fact, Hello Mobile convenience store SIM cards have a high demand among younger generations, with a 66% subscription rate among those in their 20s to 40s (based on January to October this year).
Namjung Lee, Head of Mobile Business at LG HelloVision, said, “We expect that the partnership with GS25 will simultaneously increase affordable phone accessibility and convenience store foot traffic.” He added, “As the demand for ‘unlocked phones + affordable phones’ among practical consumers has surged recently, we will continue to discover differentiated distribution channels closely aligned with customer lifestyles to steadily enhance affordable phone accessibility and perceived benefits.”
