On the 3rd, Pohang City announced that its representative social networking services (SNS) have played a significant role as promotional helpers by quickly informing the public about local festivals, events, and major city administration issues, leading to a steady increase in followers and visible achievements.
Currently, the main SNS channels operated by Pohang City include Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Blog, X (formerly Twitter), and KakaoTalk Channel, with various content such as card news and short-form videos uploaded according to the characteristics of each channel.
By timely sharing city administration news such as festivals and events held at major tourist attractions in Pohang and actively utilizing easily accessible content like challenges for citizens, the number of followers across all channels has been steadily rising.
The follower (subscriber) counts on Instagram and YouTube, leading channels that drive global trends, have increased by more than 15% compared to last year, showing remarkable results.
In particular, Pohang City's Instagram currently has 51,459 followers, ranking among the top for basic local governments nationwide, and the direct and indirect promotional ripple effect is estimated to exceed 100,000 people.
Additionally, Pohang City reported that the challenge video for singer Jeon Somi’s “Fast Forward,” filmed against the backdrop of Pohang’s secondary battery and bio industries, surpassed 460,000 views, and the “Ganghodong Neighborhood” content promoting Pohang’s major tourist spots and specialties through influencer collaboration recorded a total of 1.07 million views across two episodes, greatly contributing to raising Pohang’s profile nationwide.
