On the 30th, at the 113th floor EBC of Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, key stakeholders including Kim Gyo-hyun, Vice Chairman and Head of Lotte Group's Chemical Division, Kim Yeon-seop, CEO of Lotte Energy Materials, Pere Aragon?s, Governor of Catalonia, Spain, and Oriol Alcoba Malaspina, Director of Catalonia's Department of Industry, gathered to discuss major issues related to the promotion of the smart factory in Spain.
Earlier in August, they met with Fran Morancho L?pez, Mayor of Monroyich, Catalonia, Spain, to discuss land contracts for construction and securing local workforce. This time, the focus was on visa matters for personnel dispatched from Korea for the production facility construction, securing renewable energy, and other permit-related issues.
Lotte Energy Materials actively requested the establishment of a one-stop service that allows foreign-invested companies to check approvals and progress in one place without needing to visit various government departments for smooth permit procedures. In response, Pere Aragon?s, Governor of Catalonia, stated that since this project is a major regional initiative, they will actively review and support the necessary matters.
Pere Aragon?s, Governor of Catalonia, said, "This project is one of the largest single projects attracting foreign manufacturing investment in Catalonia. We will actively listen to difficulties related to the construction of production facilities and establish necessary administrative procedures at the provincial level to make this an exemplary case of investment attraction that contributes to revitalizing the local manufacturing industry and creating jobs."
Kim Gyo-hyun, Vice Chairman and Head of Lotte Group's Chemical Division, emphasized, "During a mid-month visit to Spain with CEO Kim Yeon-seop to inspect the project, we recognized its importance and felt the high level of local interest. If Lotte Energy Materials, the first battery materials company to enter Catalonia, successfully settles, many companies will come knocking on Spain’s door to build a secondary battery value chain hub."
