KCGI Asset Management Changes Major Shareholder to KCGI, Fund Returns Soar in 100 Days
"Ranked 3rd Among All Domestic Public Asset Management Companies"
After KCGI Asset Management became the major shareholder of KCGI, the fund's performance ranking rose by 36 places.
On the 30th, KCGI Asset Management stated, "It has been 100 days since our new start on August 14th, when we transitioned from Meritz Asset Management to KCGI Asset Management," adding, "An analysis of domestic equity fund performance data by period, provided by the fund evaluation company KG Zeroin, showed that among 42 public asset management companies, our ranking in domestic equity fund returns rose 36 places to 3rd place." The period return was 0.3%, recording an excess return of 4.0 percentage points compared to the average return of -3.7% for the same category.
KCGI Korea Small Cap (Equity) Type Ae achieved a return of 1.1%, showing an excess return of 5.4% compared to the benchmark, and KCGI Korea Securities No.1 (Equity) recorded an excess return of 3.9%, demonstrating higher returns compared to their benchmarks.
Mid- to long-term returns also showed overall positive performance. The domestic equity fund category recorded an 11.96% return over one year, ranking 5th among public asset management companies. Over three years, the return was 10.01%, ranking 12th, and over five years, 44.63%, ranking 8th, placing it among the top performers.
Mot Dae-gyun, Chief Investment Officer of KCGI Asset Management, said, “We have been adjusting our portfolio with a strategy focused on finding investment ideas from a long-term investment perspective and concentrating on risk management to enhance customer returns,” adding, “These efforts are gradually showing results, and we will continue to focus all our capabilities on improving returns.”

Since the change in major shareholder, KCGI Asset Management has set ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), pensions, and global investment as its three main business areas, reorganizing internally by enhancing operational processes, risk management, and strengthening the investment team. Recently, it launched the KCGI ESG Co-Growth Fund, which pursues governance improvements in domestic companies, and has actively made shareholder proposals.
