Circular Economy Festival Held... Samsung, Hyundai, LG, POSCO, and Others Reveal Strategies
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it will hold the '2023 Korea Circular Economy Festival' at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from the 29th to the 30th.
This festival, which introduces companies' circular economy technologies and products and showcases future strategic directions, is divided into three programs: exhibition, conference and forum, and government awards. The 102 participating companies and organizations will present new business models and innovative technologies in four exhibition zones: ▲ Eco Design and New Materials ▲ Mobility Circular Economy ▲ Resource Recycling ▲ Digital Circular Economy.
At the conference, major domestic and international companies such as LG Chem, Samsung Electronics, POSCO, HP, and Doosan Enerbility will share their visions, strategies, and best practices related to the circular economy. Following this, the forum will gather experts from industry, academia, and research to discuss policy tasks under the theme 'Circular Economy, Present and Future.'
Government awards will also be given to individuals who have contributed to revitalizing the circular economy industry. Daesung Metal received the Minister of Industry Award for developing silver recovery rate improvement technology applied to resource recycling processes, contributing to resource savings and pollution reduction. In total, four companies and seven individuals will receive commendations from the Minister of Industry.

The government is managing nine leading projects by major industries, including (petrochemical) pyrolysis oil, (metal) resource recycling, (battery) reuse and recycling, and (electronics and textiles) eco design. In his congratulatory speech, First Vice Minister Jang Young-jin of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated, "The circular economy is a key means to respond to climate change, and the Ministry will take the lead in spreading the circular economy throughout the industry centered on the nine leading projects." He added, "We will further expand institutional improvements and business support for this purpose."
