Donation of Kkakdugi Kimchi Made by Children and Parents at Geumcheon-gu Daycare Centers
Gurip Dodam, Dongsim, Dasom, and Somsatang Daycare Centers Donate 30 Boxes of Kkakdugi for Vulnerable Groups
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced on the 27th that four daycare centers in Geumcheon-gu donated 30 boxes of kkakdugi, directly made by children and their parents, to the Siheung 1-dong Community Center.
The participating daycare centers are Gurip Dodam Daycare Center (Director Park Yeon-gyeong), Dongsim Daycare Center (Director Park Young-hee), Dasom Daycare Center (Director Lee O-rye), and Somsatang Daycare Center (Director Park Mi-young). These daycare centers are part of the Seoul-type Moa Daycare Center called the ‘Green Narae Community.’
Moa Daycare Center refers to a model where nearby daycare centers share spaces and programs to improve the quality of childcare.
The kkakdugi donated by each daycare center was made using radishes grown and harvested by the children and their parents. The children, together with their parents, participated in growing radishes in the garden, harvesting them, and making kkakdugi.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “It is touching to see young children offering kkakdugi made with their small hands to neighbors in need,” and added, “We thank the daycare centers that participated in this sharing activity, and we will ensure that the kkakdugi filled with the children’s warm hearts is delivered well to the local neighbors in need.”
