Hyundai Construction Wins 'Best Innovation Award' in Smart Construction Challenge for 3 Consecutive Years
Award-winning Work is the Technology of 'Road Life Cycle Management Automation Platform'
Hyundai Construction announced on the 22nd that it won the 'Best Innovation Award' in the road sector at the '2023 Smart Construction Challenge' awards ceremony held at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Now in its 4th year, the Smart Construction Challenge is an event designed to encourage the utilization and activation of excellent smart construction technologies. Hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, related organizations oversee competitions in five technical fields: safety management, complex/housing, roads, railroads, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Hyundai Construction has participated in this event since 2021 and has won awards for three consecutive years up to this year.

This year’s award-winning project is the ‘Road Lifecycle Management Automation Platform’ technology. It is a program that automates the entire lifecycle management (design, construction, operation) of road infrastructure by analyzing and utilizing spatial information data acquired by unmanned drones. It received high praise for its expected effects, including reducing labor input, shortening construction periods, and lowering quality maintenance costs.
Key features include ▲unmanned drone control and operation automation ▲real-time monitoring of drone footage ▲construction status management based on spatial information ▲remote control using smart glasses ▲automated quality (crack/defect) management using AI video analysis technology.
Hyundai Construction pilot-applied this technology at the Gyeongju Bomuncheon District Urban Development Project construction site, performing quality and safety management throughout the entire construction period. It is currently being utilized at sites such as the Gyeongju Innovation Nuclear Research Complex construction.
