Celebrating its 12th year this year, the "Busan MICE Festival" is jointly hosted and organized by Busan City, Busan Tourism Organization, BEXCO, Busan Economic Promotion Agency, and Busan Tourism MICE Promotion Association, with support from the Korea Tourism Organization.

This event has served as a focal point for not only the MICE industry but also related universities and the general public to gather, explore the development direction of Busan’s MICE industry, and establish cooperative systems among its members.

This year’s event features a variety of programs including ▲Guest Lectures ▲BMA Regular Meeting ▲MICE Forum ▲University Student Education ▲Citizen Academy.

The invited guest lecture, under the theme "Understanding 2024 Trends and Strategy Development to Apply to the MICE Industry," will be delivered by Professor Lee Jun-young, co-author of 2024 Trend Korea, who will discuss the 2024 consumer trend outlook in Korea and its implications for the MICE industry.

The BMA Regular Meeting will bring together about 100 members of the Busan MICE Alliance and industry stakeholders to share information and build networks for cooperation.

Notably, this year a participant team-building program and a meeting with the Korea PCO Association have been newly introduced to create a platform for cooperation and discussion toward a sustainable Busan MICE industry.

At the MICE Forum, approximately 70 participants from MICE organizations, industry, and academia will gather to discuss "Job Discussions for the Quantum Leap Growth of Busan’s MICE Industry," sharing cases related to employment issues in the MICE sector and exploring solutions together.

To expand the base, programs such as university student mock events and convention planner training will be conducted to nurture future talents who will lead the MICE industry. Additionally, the Citizen Academy and public official MICE education aim to increase the general public’s understanding and interest in the MICE industry.

Furthermore, promotional video exhibitions using corridor spaces, displays of award-winning works from the MICE Content and Haebinyu contests, corporate promotion booths, tourism souvenir sales booths, and photo booths will be operated to enhance participant satisfaction.

The opening ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on November 30 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2. About 100 MICE stakeholders and citizens will attend, and the ceremony will include awards for meritorious persons and excellent companies, presentation of appreciation plaques, and an awards ceremony for contest winners (Content and Haebinyu).

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, "The MICE industry is a high value-added sector where human resources are paramount, making the nurturing of future talents and the establishment of a cooperative system among members critical tasks. I ask for the citizens’ great interest in this event, which will serve as a place for exchange and cooperation where various stakeholders including the MICE industry, related universities, and the general public come together to consider the development direction of Busan’s MICE industry."
