World No. 11 Kim Joo-hyung showcased his resilience at the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour).
On the 19th (local time), at the 2023 season finale DP World Tour Championship (total prize money $10 million) held at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (par 72, 7,706 yards), he shot a 5-under 67 in the final round to climb to a tie for 15th place (13-under 275). He missed the top 10 by just 2 strokes, trailing the group tied for 9th.
Starting from a tie for 19th, Kim carded 1 eagle, 6 birdies, and 3 bogeys. In the first 8 holes, he made 1 birdie but also 2 bogeys, losing a stroke. However, consecutive birdies on holes 9 and 10 shifted the momentum, followed by an exciting streak of 3 consecutive birdies from holes 13 to 15. After a bogey on the 16th hole (par 4) to catch his breath, Kim sank an approximately 16.7-meter eagle putt on the final 18th hole (par 5).
The "twin golfers," Nikolai Højgaard (Denmark), fired an 8-under 64 including 5 consecutive birdies to secure a 2-stroke victory (21-under 267). This marked his third DP World Tour win, coming 1 year and 9 months after his February victory at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship. His winner's prize was $3 million (about 3.9 billion KRW).
