Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will conduct a 'Winter Fire Prevention Vulnerable Facility Intensive Inspection' from November 15 until the end of the year in collaboration with the fire station and private experts to prevent fires during the winter season.
The district will jointly carry out inspections with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and Seocho Fire Station targeting 13 areas with many fire-vulnerable facilities such as vinyl greenhouses and unauthorized houses. The inspection covers three areas: electrical, gas, and fire safety.
Detailed inspection items for the electrical sector include ▲checking heating devices ▲checking for damage to wires and outlets ▲verifying the operation of circuit breakers. For the gas sector, inspections include ▲checking for gas leaks at gas pipe joints ▲inspecting LPG gas cylinder hoses. The fire safety sector will focus on ▲availability of home fire extinguishers and fire detectors ▲checking emergency evacuation routes.
Facilities deemed to have a high fire risk based on the inspection results will be actively supported with home fire prevention equipment such as gas safety timers, fire extinguishers, and standalone fire detectors.
The district has continuously supported safety-vulnerable households through annual fire prevention efforts, including distributing fire extinguishers, maintaining old electrical and gas facilities, and installing fire detectors. Additionally, joint fire prevention guidance and campaigns for vulnerable households have been conducted annually with the fire station, including checking fire facilities, electrical and gas facility management, heating device inspections, and fire extinguisher checks.
Furthermore, as part of the comprehensive winter wildfire prevention plan, the district will operate a wildfire prevention headquarters and a specialized wildfire prevention and suppression team starting in November. Operated by a total of 45 personnel, they will monitor a total of 1,850 hectares of forest within the district, aiming for rapid initial response in case of wildfire occurrence. Wildfire monitoring will utilize dedicated wildfire monitoring CCTV, black box cameras, and wildfire monitoring drones. In addition, wildfire prevention guidance and promotional activities will be conducted for households adjacent to forest areas.
