Yoon Holds Meeting with Korean Community as First Schedule in San Francisco, USA
President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 15th (local time) that "at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, South Korea and the United States will send a message of solidarity with the international community through cooperation, innovation, and inclusion in addressing challenges."
President Yoon made these remarks during a meeting with over 150 Korean expatriates in San Francisco, USA, where he visited to attend the APEC Summit.

View original imageExplaining the significance of his visit to the United States this time, following visits in April, August, and September of this year, President Yoon emphasized the global solidarity commitment to addressing challenges. He mentioned, "During the state visit in April, we produced the Washington Declaration, which strengthens extended deterrence against North Korea's nuclear threat, and South Korea and the United States established five pillars on the foundation of a value-based alliance: security, industry, advanced science and technology, culture, and information alliances."
He continued, "In August at Camp David, the trilateral cooperation system among South Korea, the United States, and Japan was launched, agreeing that the three countries will jointly respond to global complex crises, and in my September speech at the United Nations General Assembly, I proposed solidarity with the international community to bridge gaps and promote coexistence among humanity."

He particularly stressed, "This year, marking the 70th anniversary of the South Korea-U.S. alliance, will be remembered as a historic starting point where the two countries took the first step toward a new 70 years as an alliance that acts."
He also highly evaluated the influence of the Korean expatriate community in the United States in diplomatic and economic fields. President Yoon said, "The history of the development of the South Korea-U.S. alliance is also the history of the development of Korean expatriates in the Americas, with the contributions of the San Francisco Korean community playing a particularly significant role," adding, "San Francisco is the starting point of Korean history on the U.S. mainland."
President Yoon further stated, "Many expatriates are demonstrating outstanding capabilities in the IT and advanced fields, which are developing day by day centered around Silicon Valley," and encouraged, "Your achievements, standing out in the global innovation hub, greatly contribute not only to the promotion of Korean rights within the United States but also to the entry of Korean advanced companies into the U.S. market."

President Yoon also shared that he felt the importance of the overseas Korean community during a recent meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and promised, "The home government will truly work hard for you."
