Resuming New Store Openings... Creating Synergy Between Convenience Stores and Supermarkets

On the 9th, Han Chaeyang, CEO of Emart, said this to employees on the occasion of the company's 30th anniversary, stating, "As the new CEO, I will design an innovative Emart that achieves future growth." This is a strategic move to resume new store openings, pursue external growth, and simultaneously improve management efficiency to address areas where Emart has not effectively responded to changes in the distribution environment.

View original imageOn the same day, Emart held a commemorative ceremony at Shinsegae Namsan, Shinsegae Group's urban training center, with about 300 employees attending. To mark the 30th anniversary, employees with 30 years of service at Emart and those aged thirty from nationwide business sites were invited. Long-term employees received plaques of appreciation.
At the event, CEO Han announced plans to resume new store openings, which had been suspended for some time, to strengthen core business competitiveness. Store expansion is directly linked to Emart's operational foundation and external growth. He also stated that the renewal of existing stores would be actively expanded. Like the recently launched The Town Mall Yeonsu and KINTEX branches, Emart aims to transform into a space where customers can spend more time, adapting to changing customer lifestyles.
CEO Han also expressed his intention to actively promote synergy between Emart24 and Emart Everyday. He mentioned, "We will create synergies among the three companies in various ways while actively collaborating with online subsidiaries such as SSG.com and Gmarket."
He emphasized the need for innovation in organizational culture. CEO Han said, "Communication beyond organizational and hierarchical boundaries is necessary," adding, "We must adopt a work execution method that quickly judges, decides, and executes."

Finally, CEO Han stated, "We must leave behind the glory of the past 30 years and prepare for the next 30 years," and added, "The more difficult the situation, the more we can overcome challenges by harnessing the passion of Emart employees."
