LH-UN Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Collaboration in the Field of Geospatial Information
Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 9th that it will sign a Record of Discussion (RoD) for collaboration with the UN in the field of geospatial information at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do.
A Record of Discussion is a document that compiles and summarizes agreed matters on cooperation content with counterpart implementing agencies and is signed.
With the signing of this RoD, the two organizations will exchange information and technology regarding the development of new geospatial technologies such as GeoAI (information combining geospatial data, artificial intelligence, and data mining) and digital twin (technology for predicting and solving problems through simulation).
The signing ceremony will be attended by world-renowned geospatial experts including Shin Hyo-seop, Head of LH’s Digital Innovation Department for Land and Urban Development, Lee Kwon-han, Head of LH’s Sejong Pilot City Planning Department, Shin Do-gyeom, Senior Researcher at LH Land and Housing Research Institute, and Alexandre Caldas, Chair of the UN Geospatial Network.
An LH official stated, "We expect that geospatial technology integrated with AI will play a significant role in creating differentiated cities when constructing new urban areas."
Meanwhile, LH will hold an international conference titled ‘The Future of GeoAI and Urban Digital Twin’ at 2 p.m. on the same day at KINTEX in conjunction with the Smart Land Expo.

The conference will introduce trends and related services utilizing GeoAI, which applies geospatial information and AI such as big data, and global experts in the UN and geospatial fields will present on the UN’s geospatial activities for sustainable development, GeoAI use cases, and pilot projects for developing urban digital twin platforms.
