The Icheon City Public Health Center in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 8th that it will operate a task force (TF) team for four months from the 15th of this month to March 15th next year to manage the health of vulnerable groups during the winter season.
The health center plans to strengthen home visit health management for 2,699 people, including elderly living alone and vulnerable groups in the area during this period.
In particular, priority services will be provided to 47 elderly people living alone, chronic patients, and those residing in vulnerable environments such as containers. Nurses will provide education on cold wave response guidelines through visits, phone calls, and text messages when cold wave advisories or warnings are issued. They will also visit homes directly to deliver items such as hot packs, blankets, and gloves, and check health conditions including blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

The health center urged people to wear slip-resistant shoes to prevent falls in preparation for the cold wave and to pay special attention to keeping warm to avoid hypothermia or frostbite. They also requested that in case of an emergency, people should immediately contact 119 for a prompt response.
