"Booking Train Tickets with Smartphones"... Seoul City Conducts Digital Education for Seniors
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korean Women's Associations United announced that they will conduct ticket reservation training using a smartphone app from the 8th to the 10th in front of the Let's Korail Travel Center inside Yongsan Station to alleviate the difficulties faced by the elderly.
With the commercialization of reservation systems via smartphones, the number of elderly people experiencing difficulties in booking various transportation means such as trains and express buses is increasing. According to the 2020 Elderly Status Survey Report, 6 out of 10 elderly people (60.4%) reported feeling inconvenienced when booking trains or express buses through information technology devices.
The training, held from 2 PM to 5 PM, targets seniors aged 60 and above who feel vague fear and resistance toward smartphone reservations. Seven senior instructors of the same age group, who have completed professional training, will guide participants step-by-step one-on-one through the entire process, from installing the smartphone app, signing up as a member, practicing reservations, to cancellations.
The training is open to anyone on-site without prior registration. Each participant's training time is 20 to 30 minutes, and the training is free of charge.
