Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group, Attends Korean Series Opening Game in Person
LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo attended the opening game of the 2023 Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) Korean Series (KS) on the 7th.
On that day, Chairman Koo visited Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul in the afternoon to encourage team officials and watched the KS first game between the LG Twins and the kt Wiz. In the photos released that day, Chairman Koo was seen wearing a glossy jumper, a symbol of autumn baseball. During the game, he took out his phone to capture scenes from the match.
This was Chairman Koo's first official visit to a baseball stadium since his inauguration in 2018. A business insider explained, "He went to support the LG Twins, who advanced to the Korean Series, as the team owner."
The LG owner's family's love for baseball is well known. Examples include Aomori soju and Rolex watches stored in the team’s safe. The late Koo Bon-moo, former LG Group chairman who passed away in 2018, purchased a Rolex watch worth 80 million won at the time in 1998, saying, "If we win, give it to the Korean Series Most Valuable Player (MVP)."
