Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the railway covering project between Donong and Yangjeong on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line in Namyangju City on that day, and prior to the official start of construction, conducted a safety prayer ceremony, GH announced on the 3rd.
The railway covering project, initiated in December 2020 through an agreement among GH, the Korea Rail Network Authority, and Namyangju City, involves covering the existing 593-meter section of the Gyeongui-Jungang Line (Donong to Yangjeong) that was previously disconnected, and developing the upper part into a complex cultural space.
For the upper complex cultural space, a complex theme park befitting the status of Dasan New Town will be designed through a public contest, aiming to establish it as a distinctive local landmark.
