BPA Ranks 1st in Infrastructure Category at International Port Association Sustainability Awards
Busan Port Authority (BPA)'s 'Busan Port Construction Aggregate Resource Circulation Project' was selected as the 1st place winner in the Infrastructure category of the 'Sustainability Awards' (WPSP) at the 34th International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) World Congress held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on November 1st.
The Sustainability Awards, hosted by the IAPH to realize the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in ports, select first-place winners in a total of six categories.
Busan Port Authority achieved this honor for the second time in history, following its first-place win in the 'Community Contribution' category in 2019.

Since 2004, Busan Port has recycled approximately 280,000 tons of construction aggregate, achieving environmental benefits equivalent to reducing 6,570 tons of greenhouse gases and planting more than one million trees.
Based on these achievements, domestically, in November 2022, BPA received the Prime Minister's Award, the highest honor, at the '13th Circular Aggregate and Circular Aggregate Recycled Products Excellent Utilization Case Contest Award Ceremony' co-hosted by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
This first-place win in the Sustainability Awards demonstrates that Busan Port's construction aggregate resource circulation project is an excellent case recognized not only in Korea but also globally.
BPA President Kang Jun-seok said, "I thank BPA employees and many stakeholders who worked hard to successfully carry out the construction aggregate resource circulation project," and added, "We will continue to do our best for the sustainable development of Busan Port."
The International Association of Ports and Harbors, established in 1955, is the world's largest international organization of port managers and stakeholders, with over 270 ports and port-related organizations as members.
