'Moving' Kang Full Awarded Merit Prize on 'Manhwa Day'
"Advocating Respect for Humanity and Love for 20 Years"
Author Kang Full, who gained great popularity with the Disney+ series 'Moving,' will receive a merit award at the 'Comics Day' ceremony. On the 1st, Shin Ilsook, president of the Korea Cartoonists Association, explained the selection background, saying, "He is the greatest storyteller of our time and a cartoonist and director who moves readers' hearts through scrolling. Over the past 20 years, he has advocated respect for humanity and love through works such as 'Pure Love Comics' and 'Moving.'"
Kang began his career in the early 2000s when webtoons were just taking root, leading with works like 'Ilsangdabangsa.' His representative works include 'Kang Full's Pure Love Comics,' 'Apartment,' 'Neighbor,' 'I Love You,' 'Fool,' 'Lighting Shop,' 'Moving,' and 'Bridge.' In particular, 'Moving' was produced as a Disney+ series this year and received much love.
Kang mainly depicted the pain and sorrows of contemporary people. He also had a significant influence on the development of the unique 'scroll' direction characteristic of webtoons. The Korea Cartoonists Association stated, "This year marks the 20th anniversary of the serialization of 'Kang Full's Pure Love Comics' on a webtoon platform, making the merit award even more meaningful."
