Kazakhstan Mine Fire... 32 Dead, 14 Missing (Comprehensive)
A fire broke out at a mine in the Karaganda region of western Kazakhstan, resulting in 32 deaths and 14 missing persons, according to major foreign news outlets.
On the 28th (local time), the Kazakhstan Emergency Committee announced that by 4 p.m. that day, 32 bodies had been found at the Kostenko mine where the fire occurred, and search efforts for 14 people were ongoing.
According to ArcelorMittal Temirtau, the mine operator, out of 252 people present at the site, 208 evacuated, and 18 of them are receiving treatment for injuries.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, met with the families of the victims in Karaganda to express his condolences and declared a national day of mourning.

President Tokayev stated that the government will take over the operation of the mine previously managed by ArcelorMittal.
