MFDS Improves Standards for 8 Herbal Medicine Items Including Musk
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 27th that it will publicly notify the revision of the "Korean Pharmacopoeia and External Herbal (Medicinal Plant) Standards" on the 27th, which includes improvements to standards and specifications in line with the latest scientific levels.
The Korean Pharmacopoeia and External Herbal Standards is a monograph that sets detailed provisions on the properties and conditions, quality, storage methods, and other necessary standards for herbal medicines and their preparations.
The main points of the revision are to update the identification and content standards and test methods for musk to the latest scientific level, improve the purity test methods, and accordingly revise the identification and content standards for seven herbal medicine preparations containing musk.
Comments on the revision proposal will be accepted until December 26.

An official from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety stated, “During the public notice period, we will widely collect opinions from the industry and actively review and reflect them. We will continue to improve and manage the standards and specifications so that high-quality herbal medicines (medicinal plants) managed according to the latest quality control standards can be distributed domestically.”
