Busan Students Propose Public Policies to Address Local Issues
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will operate the ‘3rd Saengdonggam Toktok Student Social Participation Debate Forum’ project from the 28th of this month to December 27th, targeting 8 teams and over 40 participants including high school students and supervising teachers.
‘Saengdonggam Toktok’ is an abbreviation of ‘Thinking, Acting, and Empathizing,’ and is a project activity where participants identify various issues in Busan and propose public policies to improve them.
This project will be conducted in three stages: ‘Forum of Thought,’ ‘Forum of Action,’ and ‘Forum of Empathy.’
Participants will engage in activities under the theme ‘Creating Tomorrow Together, Happy Busan,’ identifying problems and solutions in various fields such as transportation, environment, population, and health in Busan.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to select experts from related local organizations as mentors to support students’ systematic activities.
At 10 a.m. on the 28th, during the ‘Forum of Thought’ held at the Design Promotion Institute, Lee Dong-hyun, Senior Research Fellow at the Busan Research Institute, will give a lecture titled ‘Busan’s Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.’ Participants will have time to understand regional characteristics through the lecture and prepare project proposals.
Afterwards, participants will autonomously carry out the project in consultation with mentors over about two months during the ‘Forum of Action.’ The results will be presented at the ‘Forum of Empathy’ on December 27th.
