Suncheon-si Holds Resident Briefing Session on Public Resource Facility Project
About 200 Residents Present Enthusiastic Opinions on Resource Recovery Facility
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it held a residents' briefing session on the draft strategic environmental impact assessment for the waste treatment facility and the feasibility study of candidate sites for the installation of the next-generation public resource recovery facility at Haeryong-myeon Resident Autonomy Center at 2 PM on the 26th.
At this briefing session attended by about 200 residents, explanations were given regarding the appropriateness and feasibility of the waste treatment facility installation plan from an environmental perspective, the impact on the candidate sites and surrounding areas, and the results of the feasibility study of the candidate sites.
The briefing included explanations from Korea Comprehensive Technology, the firm conducting the site feasibility study, and Sangwon Co., Ltd., the firm conducting the strategic environmental impact assessment, and concluded with answers to residents' questions.
The second briefing session is scheduled to be held at 2 PM on the 27th at the Palma Gymnasium Olympic Memorial Hall Education Center.
The draft of the strategic environmental impact assessment is currently on public display from the 12th of this month until the 9th of next month at the Ministry of Environment's Environmental Impact Assessment Information Support System, the Cleaning Resources Division, Haeryong-myeon, and Deokyeon-dong Administrative Welfare Centers. Written opinions can be submitted until the 16th of next month.
A Suncheon city official said, "Many people attended the residents' briefing session held on the 26th and provided various opinions regarding the establishment of the resource recovery facility," and added, "We hope many citizens will also participate and provide their opinions at the residents' briefing session to be held on the 27th."
