Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced the final 41 winning entries of the '2023 Seoul Metro Photo Contest.'
This contest, themed 'The Charm of the Subway, Memories Together,' was held over 50 days from August 9 to September 27. It resumed after a three-year hiatus since 2020 due to COVID-19.
Notably, this year's contest provided citizens with the opportunity to participate directly by photographing the corporation's facilities or staff in action through a 'Citizen Participation Photo Shoot.'
Over the 50-day submission period via the corporation's website, a total of 724 people submitted 1,590 photos, drawing attention as a festival of diverse citizen participation.
The corporation formed a judging panel of external experts who conducted two rounds of evaluation to select 41 winning works (1 Grand Prize, 1 Silver Prize, 2 Bronze Prizes, and 37 Encouragement Awards) from the 1,590 entries.
Winners will receive a total prize money of 9.8 million KRW along with certificates, including 3 million KRW for the Grand Prize and 1.5 million KRW for the Silver Prize. The Grand Prize went to Kim Hyung-min's 'Noeul,' the Silver Prize to Park Kyung-sik's 'Commuter Train Roaming the City,' and the Bronze Prizes to Yoo Geun-chan's 'Golden Commute' and Kim Cheol-seung's 'City Night, Subway Motion.'
The winning works will be posted on the corporation's website and exhibited for 10 days from November 14 to November 23 at Metro Art Gallery 1 in Gyeongbokgung Station on Line 3. The corporation plans to utilize the winning works in various forms for promotional materials to share with citizens.
An awards ceremony will also be held within the Metro Art Gallery during the November exhibition period.
