Seoul∼Incheon Geomdan, Yeongjong, Sorae M-Bus 4 Routes to Open in the Second Half of Next Year
Four new metropolitan express bus (M-bus) routes connecting Incheon and Seoul will be established next year. Incheon City announced on the 24th that this was confirmed by the Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee on the 20th.
The new routes will connect Geomdancho to Yeouido Complex Transfer Center, Geomdancho to Guro Digital Complex Station, Yeongjong Umirin 1st Complex Back Gate to Gangnam Station, and Soraepogu Station to Yeoksam Station, respectively. The routes are scheduled to open in the second half of next year after administrative procedures.
These areas have seen steady population growth, but due to insufficient Seoul commuting routes, complaints about expanding public transportation such as metropolitan buses have been continuously raised. The M-bus routes from Geomdan to Gangnam Station and Cheongna to Yangjae Flower Market, which were planned to open this year, have been postponed to January next year due to delays in vehicle delivery.
An official from Incheon City stated, "With the establishment of these new routes, we expect the convenience of metropolitan transportation to improve in new towns and densely populated areas such as Geomdan New Town, Yeongjong International City, and Nonhyeon-dong."
Meanwhile, regarding the transfer issue of Gimpo Route 3000 (Ganghwa Terminal to Sinchon Station), which has been controversial due to its starting point not complying with regulations, Incheon City plans to derive a reasonable solution through continuous consultations with the Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee, Ganghwa County, and Gimpo City, including financial burden considerations.
