Over 5,000 Deaths in Gaza Strip, Including 2,055 Children
Since the outbreak of the war between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas, the death toll in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli airstrikes has surpassed 5,000.
The Gaza Strip Ministry of Health, governed by Hamas, announced on the 23rd (local time) that a total of 5,087 Palestinians have died as a result of Israeli attacks since the 7th.
Among the deceased, 2,055 were children, 1,119 were women, and 217 were elderly, accounting for nearly 67% of the total casualties. The number of injured was reported to be 15,273.
The Gaza Strip Ministry of Health also added that at least 436 Palestinians died in the past 24 hours, including 182 children.
During the same period, 95 Palestinians were killed and 1,650 injured in violent incidents in the West Bank of the Jordan River.
Al Jazeera reported that Israel, which has not released an official death toll, has suffered 1,405 deaths including 356 soldiers and police officers, and 5,431 injuries.
