View original imageOn this day, Mayor Lee met with Kim Yong-chae, Executive Vice President of the Korea Hydrogen Fuel Cell Industry Association, and expressed his gratitude for participating and giving a lecture at the "Vision Proclamation Ceremony for Leading the Hydrogen Economy Transformation in the Local Era," co-hosted by Pohang City and Gyeongbuk Province last September.
He then requested promotion to encourage companies to actively use the Pohang Hydrogen Fuel Cell Certification Center, designated as the KS certification body in the hydrogen fuel cell field, and asked the association to actively cooperate in attracting companies to the Pohang Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cluster (2024?2028), as well as in technology development and workforce training in the fuel cell sector.
Mayor Lee Gang-deok stated, “Pohang City, which has achieved the preliminary feasibility study approval for the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cluster, will actively work to establish a clean hydrogen production base and attract hydrogen-specialized complexes and distributed energy specialized areas to sustain the growth of the hydrogen new industry.” He added, “I ask for the Korea Hydrogen Fuel Cell Industry Association’s great interest and cooperation so that Pohang can grow into a mecca leading South Korea’s hydrogen industry.”
The Korea Hydrogen Fuel Cell Industry Association was established in November last year to promote the overall development of the industrial value chain related to hydrogen fuel cells, a key means for carbon neutrality.

It consists of 40 corporate members, including the chairman company Doosan Fuel Cell, as well as individual and special members. The association engages in various activities such as domestic and international hydrogen fuel cell industry and policy research and analysis, collecting industry opinions and policy proposals, technology development cooperation and support, government, local government, and international cooperation, and various forums, seminars, and education related to hydrogen fuel cells.
