Middle Eastern Leaders Hold Summit in Cairo on 21st to Discuss Israel-Palestine War
Major Middle Eastern countries are gathering in Egypt to discuss the war between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas.
According to major foreign media including the Israeli daily Haaretz on the 20th (local time), delegations from Egypt, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as well as Jordan, T?rkiye, Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will hold a summit in Cairo, Egypt on the 21st.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who is touring the Middle East, is also expected to attend the meeting.
Upon arriving in Cairo that day, Prime Minister Sunak stated in a press release, "I am holding talks with regional colleagues to discuss the situation in Israel and Gaza," adding, "I will emphasize the need to prevent escalation and avoid unnecessary civilian casualties."
Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority, also departed that morning to attend the summit, and United Nations Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres is reported to be joining as well. From Germany, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has confirmed her attendance.
The summit is expected to discuss measures such as allowing humanitarian aid supplies to enter Gaza through the Rafah crossing in southern Gaza from Egypt.

Additionally, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) maintaining their stance on deploying ground troops in Gaza, discussions are also anticipated regarding concerns over civilian casualties and other pressing issues.
