Gokseong-gun Launches Live Commerce to Revitalize Traditional Markets
3,000 Viewers, Ranked #1 in Live Rankings for the Same Time Slot
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced on the 18th that it held a real-time live commerce event to expand online sales channels for traditional market merchants and revitalize the local economy.
This event was promoted to nationally publicize and boost sales of excellent products from the Gokseong Train Village traditional market and to prepare for the transition to non-face-to-face distribution methods.
The real-time live shopping (Grip) showcased various agricultural and specialty products produced in Gokseong-gun, attracting over 3,000 viewers and achieving first place in the live ranking during the broadcast.
In particular, more than 100 orders of various items, including the county’s representative specialty, taro, were sold, recording total sales of over 5 million won.
Additionally, students from Gokseong Central Elementary School visited the traditional market, purchasing items they each selected, gaining firsthand experience in rational consumption.
They also enjoyed delicious food, savoring the unique charm of the traditional market.
Going forward, the county plans to hold a total of three additional live commerce events from October to November.
By diversifying the products for sale, it aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by traditional market merchants due to the domestic economic downturn and rising prices, and to continuously strive for the revitalization of traditional markets.
A Gokseong-gun official said, “We hope this live commerce broadcast will serve as a catalyst for local traditional market merchants to enter the online market and bring smiles back to the once-stagnant local commercial district. We will continue to provide tailored support to coexist with local small business owners.”
