On the 21st, 900 Participants to Join 8km Walking Event on Pocheon Section of 'Gyeonggi Dullegil'
On the 21st, Gyeonggi Province will hold a walking event at the Pocheon Hantangang UNESCO Global Geopark, where participants will walk along both the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil and old trails. The course for this event is approximately 8 km long.
The Hantangang UNESCO Global Geopark is a UNESCO Global Geopark and serves as the intersection where Gyeonggi Dulle-gil Pocheon Course 14 and Gyeonggi Old Road Gyeongheung-gil meet, making it a unique place where culture, history, and nature come together.
About 900 pre-registered participants will start the event with an opening ceremony at the Hantangang UNESCO Global Geopark, then walk across the Hantangang Sky Bridge and follow the Hantangang River to the Meonguri Gorge Exploration Center, which will be the turnaround point.
After the walking event, participants will explore the Hantangang Bidulginang Waterfall, Natural Monument No. 537, and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery. Various side events, including a performance by a trot singer, will also be held.
Choi Yong-hoon, Director of the Tourism Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “Walking the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil Pocheon Course 14 at the UNESCO Hantangang Global Geopark allows people to fully experience the natural beauty of the Hantangang River and appreciate its geological, historical, cultural, and ecological values. We hope this walking event along the old trails and Gyeonggi Dulle-gil Pocheon will be the first step toward integrating walking trails in Gyeonggi Province.”
The Gyeonggi Dulle-gil was fully opened in November 2019 by connecting existing paths along the outskirts of Gyeonggi Province. It consists of four regional trails?Peace Nuri-gil, Forest Trail, Water Trail, and Coastal Trail?with a total of 60 courses spanning 860 km. The Pocheon Course 14, where this event is held, belongs to the Forest Trail region.
Gyeonggi Province started the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil walking events with the Siheung walk on June 30, followed by the Hwaseong Maehyang-ri Sunset walk in August, and the Anseong Gyeonggi Dulle-gil walk over three days in October. On November 4, a walking event will be held at Gapyeong Yongchu Valley on Gyeonggi Dulle-gil Gapyeong Course 20.

To develop Gyeonggi Dulle-gil as a representative long-distance walking trail and a stay-type tourism resource of Gyeonggi Province, new rest areas and restrooms will be constructed near the event course at Sanjeong Lake on Gyeonggi Dulle-gil Pocheon Course 15 to improve user convenience. Additional rest areas and restrooms will also be expanded at Anseong Geumgwang Lake, Gapyeong Homyeong Lake, and Pyeongtaek Port.
