Seongbuk-gu 'Jangwi Buma Festival' Reopens After 4 Years
Reenactment of 'Princess Deokon' Traditional Royal Wedding at Buma House (now Jinheung Seonwon)... After the Ceremony, Invited Singers Perform at Seoul Jangwi Elementary School, Along with Resident Talent Shows, Street Market, and Various Children's Experience Programs
On the 21st, the "9th Jangwi Buma Festival" will be held in Jangwi 2-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro). Organized by the Jangwi Buma Festival Promotion Committee, this event is especially meaningful as it is being held again after four years due to circumstances such as COVID-19.
At 1 PM, the first part of the event will begin with a traditional royal wedding ceremony held at Buma House (currently Jinheung Seonwon), where Yun Ui-seon, the Buma Dowi (駙馬都尉) and Namnyeongwi (南寧尉), husband of Princess Deokon, the third daughter of King Sunjo of Joseon, once resided.
The bride and groom were selected from couples who applied through an open recruitment for the traditional wedding. After the wedding ceremony at Buma House, the bride and groom will move to Jangwi Elementary School, where all residents will participate in an entrance parade and a paebaek ceremony, followed by a pre-ceremony performance.
At 3 PM, the second part of the event will begin with an opening ceremony hosted by MC Kim Jeong-ryeol. There will be congratulatory performances by invited singers and a talent show featuring residents. A lucky draw with abundant prizes such as TVs will also take place. Additionally, various children’s experience booths including food markets and traditional games will be prepared.
