CJ CheilJedang Launches Plant-Based Dumplings in the UK, Australia, and Singapore
Export of Two Types of Plant-Based Dumplings... Sold in the Mainstream of the Global Market
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 18th that it has launched two types of plant-based dumplings in trays in the UK, Australia, and Singapore.
The newly introduced products are 'Bibigo Japchae Steamed Dumplings' and 'Bibigo Cheongyang Chili Steamed Dumplings.' They will be sold mainly through major retail channels in each country.
These dumplings strengthen the K-flavor by filling them with japchae, a popular K-food menu item among global consumers, and a spicy filling made with Korea's representative chili pepper. Unlike the existing pouch products, these dumplings come in trays, making them more convenient to enjoy with microwave cooking. The plant-based tray dumplings will expand to more export countries after gauging local consumer responses.
CJ CheilJedang started its plant-based food business at the end of 2021. It operates under the 'Plantable' brand in Korea and the 'Bibigo' brand in the global market. This year, it is making significant progress in the global market. The brand has enhanced its credibility with the European vegan certification 'V-label.' The products are recognized as K-dumplings that offer both great taste and health benefits. Exports of plant-based dumplings have increased about threefold compared to the same period last year through the third quarter. Currently, the export countries number over 30, including Europe, Australia, India, and Africa.
A CJ CheilJedang official said, "Along with the expansion of health and eco-friendly trends, the global plant-based food market is also growing. Based on differentiated R&D and manufacturing technology, we will meet the needs of domestic and international consumers and expand CJ CheilJedang’s presence."
