Panel Bent Underfoot... 60s Foreign Worker Falls to Death in Gimhae
A foreign worker fell to his death while replacing factory roof panels in Gimhae, Gyeongnam.
According to the Gimhae Western Police Station on the 17th, a Russian national worker in his 60s, Mr. A, fell while replacing ceiling panels at an automobile parts factory in Jinyeong-eup, Gimhae City, around 10:30 a.m. on the 13th.
Mr. A fell about 5 meters after the panel he was standing on bent during work. He was taken to the hospital immediately after the accident but ultimately passed away on the 15th.
At the time of the accident, Mr. A was not wearing a safety helmet, and it is known that safety devices such as safety lines were not installed at the site.
Mr. A was deployed to the site through a manpower agency along with other workers of the same nationality, and the construction company is understood to have fewer than five employees, thus not subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.
