Launch of Government-Affiliated Biohealth Innovation Committee: "Fostering Industry"
The Biohealth Innovation Committee was launched on the 17th to foster the biohealth industry.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, on this day, a presidential decree was established to set up the Biohealth Innovation Committee to support the convergence and fusion of advanced technology and biohealth. This was because there had been criticisms that government tasks related to biohealth, such as pharmaceuticals and medical devices, were fragmented by department and sector, resulting in segmented policies.
The chairperson of the Biohealth Innovation Committee is the Prime Minister. In addition, ministers from 12 ministries including the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as well as private experts, participate as committee members. The committee will also focus on reviewing and deliberating policies for comprehensive support throughout the entire cycle, such as biohealth technology development, product commercialization, insurance listing, and market entry, through a government-wide joint effort.
