Apple to Release 'Half-Price Vision Pro'? "Possible at Around 2 Million Won"

Apple is reportedly planning a more affordable version of its next-generation "ambitious" spatial computer, the Vision Pro.
On the 15th (local time), Mark Gurman, an IT journalist from Bloomberg News, revealed in his newsletter "Power On" that Apple is internally developing a Vision Pro priced between "$1,500 and $2,500" (approximately 2.03 million to 3.38 million KRW).
The Vision Pro, first unveiled by Apple at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last June, is a mixed reality (MR) headset known as a spatial computer worn on the head.
The initial Vision Pro was priced at $3,500 (approximately 4.74 million KRW), and Apple plans to develop a more affordable version that is up to $2,000 cheaper.
This move is interpreted as a response to concerns that despite being Apple's most ambitious product in nine years since the Apple Watch series first revealed in 2014, the high price might limit demand.
According to foreign media, the affordable version of the Vision Pro may not have an external display attached to the device.
If so, one of Vision Pro's key features, "EyeSight," could be removed.
EyeSight is a function that helps facilitate smooth communication by showing the user's eyes to others approaching someone wearing the Vision Pro.
While EyeSight is one of the main features of the Vision Pro, foreign media added that it is not essential for the device's operation.
Additionally, the affordable version is expected to run on an iPhone-grade chip, have fewer cameras, and possibly include a lower-resolution internal screen.
Foreign media pointed out, "Although the cheaper Vision Pro is still not inexpensive, whether the $2,500 price point feels sufficiently discounted depends on whether the iPhone chip and hardware changes can provide a good software experience."
In Vision OS, users can fill their surrounding space through apps. Apps can be moved anywhere and resized to perfect dimensions. They also respond to natural light and can cast shadows.

Apple CEO Tim Cook explained when first unveiling the Vision Pro last June, "Digital content interacts as if it exists in physical space, and it can be controlled by the eyes, hands, and voice."
