Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, said on the 13th that the party's recovery plan after the defeat in the Gangseo District Mayor by-election "will not take long."
On the same day, after individual meetings with the Supreme Council members at the party leader's office in the National Assembly, Kim responded to reporters' question, "When can we expect to know the outline of the recovery plan?" by saying this.
Starting from 9 a.m., he began listening to opinions on party innovation measures through individual meetings with Supreme Council members, including floor leader Yoon Jae-ok and Policy Committee Chairman Park Dae-chul. This is a process of gathering opinions on the detailed contents of the innovation plan, including the formation of an innovation committee.
When asked whether the reform plan would be delivered to the lawmakers at the parliamentary meeting on the 15th, he avoided a direct answer, saying, "I will tell you later as we organize the contents."
Regarding the discussions with the floor leader and Supreme Council members, he said, "The core task is how to improve our party's constitution to become a party loved by the people in response to the change in public sentiment revealed during this by-election," adding, "We are listening to various opinions."
Although the Supreme Council members were reserved about the meeting contents, it is known that they expressed various opinions. Jang Ye-chan, Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, said, "I told them that showing more strongly that we are reflecting and have the will to reform is the way to manage the crisis in the eyes of the people and party members," adding, "I emphasized the need for the leadership to make a difficult decision and show a strong will for reform by taking responsibility together first."
