The Israeli military confirmed the identities of 97 hostages taken by the Palestinian armed group Hamas, Arab Emirates media outlet Al Arabiya reported on the 12th (local time).
According to the report, Israeli military spokesperson Colonel Daniel Hagari announced this during a press briefing on the same day.
Colonel Hagari explained that Israel's attack on the Palestinian Gaza Strip was aimed at "eliminating the governing capability of the armed group (Hamas)" and added, "The military is preparing for the next phase of the war."
