Jongno-gu to Host 'Jamonbak Cultural Festival' Until the 15th
Museums, Art Galleries, and More in Jamunbak Fully Showcased Through Various Exhibitions, Performances, and Experiences... Celebrating the 11th Edition This Year with the Theme 'Jamunbak Open,' Sharing Artistic Inspiration
The 'Jamunbak Cultural Festival,' where residents of Jamunbak and local artists come together, began on the 10th and will continue until the 15th.
Sponsored by Jongno-gu (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) and hosted by the Jamunbak Cultural Forum (Chairman Lee Soonjong), this event is recognized as a representative festival of the Jamunbak area, which refers to the neighborhoods of Gugidong, Buam-dong, Sinyeong-dong, Pyeongchang-dong, and Hongji-dong, located outside Jahamun (Changuimun).
This festival was organized to create a space where artists and residents can communicate and harmonize in daily life by linking the area's beautiful natural environment with organically developed human and material cultural and artistic resources. It showcases various exhibitions, performances, and experiences that fully highlight the charm of Jamunbak, an area dense with museums, art galleries, and literary halls, and has received enthusiastic responses every year.
Now in its 11th year, this year's festival is themed 'Opening Jamunbak' and is designed as a special time to share artistic inspiration.
In particular, centered around the newly opened Seoul Art Center and the Seoul Metropolitan Art Archive, the festival plans to hold an 'Opening Concert' and the 'Jamunbak Future Forum (Open Class)' respectively.
The Opening Concert, held on the 13th at Doam Hall in the Seoul Art Center, will feature performances by Crucial Star (hip-hop), Kim Dohyun (piano), Ryu Hyunseok (violin), Lee Jiyoung (Korean traditional music), and I Maestri (male opera singer ensemble).
The Jamunbak Future Forum (Open Class), held on the 14th, will discuss Jamunbak as a place where young cultural artists want to stay under the theme 'Jamunbak, from Settlement (定着) to Emotional Attachment (情着).'
Additionally, diverse programs such as the 'Open Artist Space,' which follows the journeys of artists in painting, sculpture, media, photography, and architecture; the 'Art Shop,' prepared jointly by creators and local workshops; and the 'Jamunbak Art Trekking,' combined with gallery docent tours, are also prepared.
