The Korean American Federation of America Holds a Meeting in Yangsan for the 6.25 War Veterans and World Peace

The Federation of Korean Associations in the USA visited the United Nations Peace Village, a non-profit organization located in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, and held a meeting to commemorate the Korean War and promote world peace.
According to the United Nations Peace Village on the 9th, 39 members of the Federation's executive committee visited the UN Peace Village in Yangsan on the 7th and spent a 2-day, 1-night schedule including a dinner and a meeting from the 7th to the 8th.

During the part two meeting, they shared the schedule of gratitude visits from 22 countries that participated in the Korean War and explained educational commemorative events. The Federation introduced Korean War-related events and activities held in various states across the United States.
The UN Peace Village is located in Habuk-myeon, Yangsan City, and is developing a visitor center on a 23,000㎡ site for the peace village, which includes commemorative houses for each participating country, an exhibition hall, seminar rooms, a caf?, and an information office. They are also promoting projects such as the UN Peace Plaza, healing centers for 22 participating countries, a specialized nursing hospital for veterans, and the establishment of the UN Peace Arboretum.
Lee Ok-ran, director of the UN Peace Village, said, “We are visiting Korean War veterans around the world. This year, we have visited Washington DC, New York, and Denver, and we have a schedule in Colombia in October.” She added, “We want to meet and express our gratitude to as many veterans as possible who protected this land for peace in their youth.”
Guk Seung-gu, president of the Federation of Korean Associations in the USA, said, “Today at the UN Peace Village, I was grateful to be served a home-cooked meal like my mother’s after a long time,” and added, “The Federation will participate in the projects conducted by the UN Peace Village and the visiting schedules to participating countries.”
He continued, “I thank Director Lee Ok-ran for her warm hospitality and express gratitude for her efforts to inspire patriotism,” and presented a plaque of appreciation.

Meanwhile, on the 2nd, the Korean Association paid respects at the National Cemetery in Seoul in the morning, visited the ROK-US Combined Forces Command in Pyeongtaek, and in the afternoon held meetings with senior members of the People Power Party and the Democratic Party of Korea at the National Assembly. They participated in the ‘2023 World Korean Association Presidents Conference and the 17th World Korean Day Ceremony’ held at Jamsil Hotel World on the 4th, attended the World Federation of Korean Associations seminar at Olympic Parktel on the 6th, visited Andong, and after visiting Jinju and Geumsan, they returned home.
