Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Promote Visits to Korea by Saudi Youth Generation
'Saud Korea Tourism Festa' in Riyadh
Promoting and Experiencing K-Culture at 'KCON' Venue
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization will hold the 'K-Travel Festa in Saudi' in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the 6th and 7th. They will actively market Korean tourism to over 20,000 young people who have a strong interest in Hallyu.
Six key Middle Eastern countries including Saudi Arabia (United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman) had an average expenditure per visitor to Korea of a whopping $2,600 in 2019. This is more than twice the global average expenditure of $1,239 per visitor to Korea. The average length of stay is also 4.0 days longer, reaching 10.7 days, making it a high-value market. At the center of this is Saudi Arabia. Among the 13,123 visitors from these six countries to Korea in the first half of this year, 55.1% (7,253 people) were from Saudi Arabia. Since establishing the Saudi Tourism Office in Korea in August 2021 and setting up direct flight routes (Incheon-Riyadh, Incheon-Jeddah), tourism cooperation has been strengthened.
