Chungnam Province to Develop Naepo Agricultural and Life Science Cluster in Yesan... "Baek Jong-won Also Contributes"
By 2028, the Naepo Agricultural Life Complex Zone (hereinafter referred to as Naepo Complex Zone) will be established in Yesan, Chungnam.
On the 4th, Chungnam Province announced that Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, Choi Jae-gu, Mayor of Yesan County, and representatives from Theborn Korea, Hanseo University, Korea Food Industry Association, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute met at the Chungnam Provincial Office to sign an agreement for mutual cooperation in establishing the Naepo Complex Zone.
The agreement was signed to build a win-win model between companies and farms and to utilize the Naepo Complex Zone as a future agricultural advance base for the region.
The signatory organizations will cooperate in ▲ establishing a high value-added Naepo Agricultural Life Complex Zone ▲ product development and research using local specialties ▲ introducing a win-win cooperation model between food companies and the agricultural sector ▲ smart agriculture research and development such as intelligent robot development ▲ ensuring food safety and improving quality.
First, Chungnam Province and Yesan County plan to enhance the local agricultural industry and global competitiveness by establishing production complexes based on intelligent farms (smart farms) within the complex zone, green bio complexes, 6th industry complexes, and integrated centers.
Hanseo University will be responsible for product development and research, while the Korea Food Industry Association and Korea Health Functional Food Association will introduce contract farming and win-win cooperation models between agricultural corporations and local farms to secure raw material supply and establish a stable transaction base.
The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology will contribute to improving productivity in the complex zone through the development of intelligent agricultural machinery (robots) and operation of demonstration centers, and the Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute will work on food safety and quality improvement through customized food safety education and technical support.
Theborn Korea, led by CEO Baek Jong-won, will also contribute to the establishment of the Naepo Complex Zone. It will establish a research and development center within the complex zone to build a supply chain for food materials and raw materials, and through this, it will play a role in creating regional brands and marketing.
Chungnam Province plans to invest 390 billion KRW by 2028 to develop the Naepo Complex Zone over 1.65 million square meters (500,000 pyeong) around Naepo Station in Sapgyo-eup, Yesan County. The Naepo Complex Zone will include an intelligent farm (180,000 pyeong), a 6th industry complex (220,000 pyeong), and a green bio complex (100,000 pyeong).

Governor Kim Tae-heum said, “The Naepo Complex Zone will establish a foundation for win-win cooperation between companies and farms and play a role in preparing for the future ahead of others, becoming an agricultural and food specialized complex that is benchmarked nationwide.” He added, “Chungnam Province will use this agreement as an opportunity to work with participating organizations and companies to create a new leading model for Korean agriculture based on a triangular system of ‘intelligent farms, green bio industry, and 6th industry complexes.’”
