A customer dining at a restaurant in China suddenly set fire to the establishment and fled, prompting a local police investigation.
According to recent reports from Chinese online media CTWANT and others, on the 29th of last month, a woman in Shanxi Province, China, went to a hot pot restaurant to eat and suddenly lit a restaurant decoration on fire with a lighter. While the staff were extinguishing the fire, the woman gathered her belongings and ran away.
CCTV footage inside the store shows the woman dining with a man before she approached a decoration that appeared to be made of straw with a lighter. The woman set the decoration on fire with the lighter, and the wall was immediately engulfed in flames.
The woman attempted to put out the fire with her hands, but the flames did not subside. Alarmed, she instructed the man to extinguish the fire using water from a cup, but the flames continued to burn.
Eventually, the staff rushed in with fire extinguishers and quickly put out the fire. Thanks to the prompt response of the employees, the restaurant fire was soon extinguished, but the woman fled the scene during that time.
The whereabouts of the woman remain unknown. The restaurant expressed frustration, stating, "The whereabouts of this customer who caused tremendous damage are still unknown."
