As of 9 PM on the first day of the Chuseok holiday, the 28th, traffic congestion on major highways has mostly cleared.
According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 9 PM on this day, the estimated travel times from Seoul tollgate to major destinations are 4 hours 30 minutes to Busan, 4 hours 10 minutes to Ulsan, 3 hours 40 minutes to Mokpo, 3 hours 30 minutes to Daegu, 3 hours 20 minutes to Gwangju, 2 hours 40 minutes to Gangneung, and 1 hour 30 minutes to Daejeon.
Conversely, the estimated travel times from each city to Seoul are similar.

The Expressway Corporation reported that on this day, 510,000 vehicles moved from the metropolitan area to local regions, and 390,000 vehicles moved from local regions to the metropolitan area. Nationwide traffic volume is expected to reach 5.69 million vehicles.
On Chuseok day, the 29th, the return traffic is expected to be the most congested during this holiday period.

According to the Expressway Corporation, nationwide traffic volume on the 29th is expected to be 6.27 million vehicles. Traffic congestion in the return direction is expected to start around 9 to 10 AM, peak around 3 to 4 PM, and clear by 2 to 3 AM on the following day, the 30th.
