'Gyeonggi Dadokdadok Festival' to Promote Reading Culture to be Held in Suwon on October 7
Gyeonggi Province will hold the ‘Gyeonggi Dadokdadok (多讀) Festival’ at the Suwon Convention Center on October 7 to promote a culture of reading books.
The Gyeonggi Dadokdadok Festival began in 2016 as a place for residents to participate in and enjoy a shared reading culture, and this year marks its 8th edition.
This year’s festival, under the slogan ‘Read Together, Play Together,’ involves local libraries, the Gyeonggi Small Library Association, the Korea Reading Guidance Research Cooperative, and the Social Cooperative for Library and Reading Culture Activities SeulSeul, among others.
The official event includes the 2023 Gyeonggi Province Reading Culture Promotion Commendation Ceremony. Five institutions and organizations, including Gwangmyeong City, 16 civilians such as library volunteers, and 7 public officials will be awarded.
Additionally, a ‘Gyeonggi Small Library Activists Workshop & Exhibition ? Small Libraries, Looking to the Future’ will be held, where small library activists from the province gather to discuss the development and future of small libraries.
Other side events include ▲a book concert with novelist Jang Gang-myeong titled ‘The Joy of Reading Together, The Warmth of Shared Reading’ ▲a lecture ‘Our Child’s Literacy’ by Kim Yoon-kyung, author of EBS’s Your Literacy ▲and an experiential event ‘Books and Play,’ offering enjoyable and educational programs.
In particular, this festival is linked with the ‘2023 Book Kids Con (2023 International Children’s Book & Content Festa),’ co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province and Suwon City, providing even more diverse and rich attractions.
The 2023 Book Kids Con, the largest specialized festival in Korea for children’s books and content, will be held at the Suwon Convention Center from October 5 to 9.
