The atmosphere in the local community is warming up as Chuseok events and sharing for neighbors continue throughout Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Seung-ro).
Children from Donam 2-dong Kiwoom Center Participate in Chuseok Event at Senior Centers... Smiles Bloom on Elders' Faces
On the 25th, children from Our Neighborhood Kiwoom Center Seongbuk Branch No. 6 (Center Director Lee Jeong-min) visited Hanjin Bukak Senior Center (Chairman Jeong Bok-gi) in Donam 2-dong to hold a Chuseok event.
The children showcased their talents they had been practicing, such as Taekwondo demonstrations and broadcast dance performances, in front of the elders. They also personally prepared snack packages with their small hands and delivered them to the elders with warm hearts.
The elders wore bright smiles throughout the event, and after it ended, they held the children’s hands to express their gratitude.
Seongbuk-dong Community Security Council Shares Holiday Food for Chuseok
On the 26th, the Seongbuk-dong Community Security Council (Chairman Monk Hyegang) shared Chuseok holiday food with 30 underprivileged households in Seongbuk-dong.
That day, council members started early in the morning to fry pumpkin pancakes, pollack pancakes, and meat patties, and packed bulgogi, homemade water kimchi, songpyeon, and other items to personally deliver them to each household.
An elder who received the holiday food said, “Although it’s a holiday, I was feeling down thinking I would spend it alone, but I’m really thankful that someone came to bring holiday food. This Chuseok, I don’t think I will feel lonely in my heart.”
Anam-dong: Sharing Chuseok Gifts Makes Us Happier, Anam?… Gift Packages Distributed to 100 Households
On the 26th, in Anam-dong, a gift package sharing event for Chuseok was held, led by the Anam-dong Community Security Council with sponsorship from Won Buddhism Anam Church and the nonprofit organization Good Connection.
The gift packages included songpyeon, daily necessities such as shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and convenient foods like nutritional porridge and canned tuna.
That day, members of the Anam-dong Community Security Council, volunteers, and welfare neighborhood leaders visited 100 households in welfare blind spots to deliver the gift packages and check on their well-being.
Jeongneung 1-dong Residents’ Autonomy Association Visits 11 Senior Centers to Deliver Chuseok Consolation Gifts
On the 22nd, the Residents’ Autonomy Association (Chairman Jang Seong-nam) in Jeongneung 1-dong visited 11 senior centers in the area ahead of the Chuseok holiday to deliver greetings and consolation gifts.
To help elders have a happy Chuseok, they delivered preferred items such as rice, ramen, and coffee to each senior center and carefully checked if there were any inconveniences in using the centers.
The event was made even more abundant by the donation of eleven 10kg bags of white rice from Seongbuk Credit Cooperative (Chairman Jang Seong-nam), which were distributed to the 11 senior centers.
Seokgwan-dong Shares Blankets with Housing-Vulnerable Households for Chuseok
On the 26th, Seokgwan-dong held a blanket sharing event for Chuseok, organized by the Seokgwan-dong Community Security Council.
This event was planned and blankets were prepared as part of the neighborhood-level welfare project of the Sharing Network. Warm and cozy blankets were delivered to 50 housing-vulnerable households selected by the Seokgwan-dong Community Security Council, Our Neighborhood Care Group, and welfare planners.
Jeongneung 4-dong Shares Love Songpyeon with Local Elders for Chuseok
On the 26th, a Love Songpyeon Sharing event for Chuseok was held in the auditorium on the 3rd floor of Jeongneung 4-dong Community Center. This year, local elders living alone were specially invited to make songpyeon together with the Jeongneung 4-dong Community Security Council (Chairman Park Eok-su) members.
Chairman Park Eok-su of the Jeongneung 4-dong Community Security Council said, “Making and sharing songpyeon directly with the elders makes this a warmer and more meaningful time. I hope all the elders who participated in today’s event have a joyful Chuseok holiday.”
Wolgok 1-dong Volunteer Camp Shares Holiday Food for Chuseok
On the 26th, the ‘Sharing Love for Chuseok’ event was held in Wolgok 1-dong. Hosted by the Wolgok 1-dong Volunteer Camp (Camp Leader Kwon Hye-won), holiday food was shared with elders living alone and neighbors with disabilities.
The event was joined by Seongbuk Nuribom Volunteer Society and Seongbuk-gu Disabled Persons’ Association (Chairman Shin Kang-seop), who prepared kimchi, bulgogi, and Sikhye from the day before. On the day of the event, various pancakes were fried to make Chuseok holiday food packages. The completed packages were delivered to over 80 households of elders living alone and disabled neighbors, with welfare checks and Chuseok greetings.

Additionally, in Jeongneung 3-dong, the Community Security Council (Chairman Kim Jeong-ja) personally fried seven types of holiday food on the 22nd and shared them with 200 households of elders living alone and vulnerable neighbors. The Jangwi 2-dong Volunteer Camp (Camp Leader Lee Kyung-sook) delivered Chuseok packages containing songpyeon and hand-knitted scrubbers to about 30 elders receiving care on the 25th. On the same day, the Jeongneung 1-dong Community Security Council (Chairman Lee Geon-pyeong) shared packages filled with pork ribs and songpyeon with 45 households of elders living alone and disabled neighbors, wishing everyone a bright and full Chuseok holiday like the round full moon.
