Kim Hyun-gi, Chair of Seoul Metropolitan Council, Attends the 1st Seoul Smart City Awards Ceremony
Attended the Dinner at the '2023 World Cities Summit Mayors Forum' and Had Discussions with Mayors of Global Cities
Kim Hyun-ki, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, attended the ‘1st Seoul Smart City Awards’ ceremony held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) on the 25th.
The Seoul Smart City Awards were jointly created by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the World Smart City Organization (WeGO) to share the core value of Seoul’s city administration, ‘Walking Together with the Vulnerable,’ with the world and to promote rapidly evolving smart city technologies.
The awards ceremony was held with about 200 attendees, including Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, singer Psy, and the award recipients.
Chairman Kim said, “Seoul has been the world’s number one electronic government city for seven consecutive times and has played a leading role in urban government in the field of information and communication technology, including electronic government. It is very meaningful to feel Seoul’s status changing from a city receiving awards to a city giving awards as a leading smart city.”
He continued, “The Seoul Smart City Awards have a special feature that differentiates them from other awards recognizing digital technological innovation. It is that the value of ‘Walking Together with the Vulnerable,’ which the Seoul Metropolitan Council actively participates in and supports, is embedded in the awards.”
Chairman Kim added, “The Seoul Metropolitan Council always encourages policies that allow socially vulnerable and marginalized groups, often overshadowed by the majority, to participate through institutional and financial support. I hope the Seoul Smart City Awards become an opportunity for global unity by creating a better, warmer urban system and sharing best practices among cities worldwide.”
