Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Maintain Normal Port Operations During Chuseok Holiday... 'Special Measures' Activated
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 26th that it will operate a "Special Port Operation Plan" from the 27th to the 3rd of next month to ensure that our export-import companies and shipping lines do not face any disruptions in port usage during the Chuseok holiday.
Exports this year recorded over 680 billion dollars, achieving an all-time high. However, overall exports are on a decline due to the global economic slowdown caused by instability in the external trade environment. Next year, it is expected that export conditions will worsen further compared to this year as major countries experience severe consumption contraction due to the global economic recession. In response, the government and export-related organizations must closely cooperate, and boldly pursue necessary institutional improvements. Busan Gamman Port, symbolizing "Export Korea," continues to shine brightly in the darkness, tirelessly working on export shipments even at the end of the year.

Ports will operate normally during the Chuseok holiday period, except on Chuseok day, the 29th. In urgent cases, port services will also be provided on Chuseok day. Cargo owners and shipowners planning to import or export cargo must request in advance from the terminal operators. Additionally, to prepare for emergency cargo, each port will activate emergency operations such as rotating rest days for port workers and maintaining emergency contact networks.
To facilitate smooth vessel arrivals and departures, the information system that handles port civil complaints and permit applications, the "Maritime Port Logistics Information System (PORT-MIS)," will also operate normally. Management personnel will be on standby 24 hours a day to respond to any system failures.
Tugboat companies and pilots will form standby teams at each port to provide services during the holiday period as usual. Businesses related to port transportation, such as ship fuel supply, port services, and ship supplies, will operate normally except on Chuseok day.
