Baek Jong-won to Improve Local Festival Food Business
Establishing 'Good Price' Food Market with Ministry of Culture and Tourism Organization
Participating in 'Tourism Service Quality Improvement Campaign' Next Year
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 25th that they will promote a 'Food Improvement Project' together with Baek Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea. They plan to create cultural tourism festivals that the public can trust and visit without worrying about overcharging. Cultural tourism festivals are excellent festivals designated, certified, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Ministry has selected the Geumsan World Ginseng Festival, held from the 6th to the 15th of next month, as a pilot project and will create a venue where visitors can enjoy various foods at 'fair prices.' CEO Baek will participate in establishing the system. They will develop signature menus using Geumsan's specialty, ginseng, and operate food booths. All processes, from food development to booth consultations, will be disclosed on Baek's YouTube channel 'Chukjibeop (The Law of Revitalizing Regions through Festivals)' on the 2nd of next month.
Park Jong-taek, Director of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "We focused on the high interest and affection for local food, which led to great responses by improving traditional market food with budget support," adding, "We hope this will raise interest in local festivals and serve as an opportunity to invigorate the local economy and tourism."
The Ministry will also newly launch a 'Tourism Service Quality Improvement Campaign (1.5 billion KRW)' next year. This project aims to improve food offerings at limited festivals. To ensure early stabilization, the Korea Tourism Organization will sign a business agreement with The Born Korea on the 11th of next month to revitalize local festivals and discuss detailed collaboration plans. They plan to support reasonable consumption by visitors to local festivals by providing advance information on food prices and strengthening on-site inspections.
