Former Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly Member Park Hong-yeol Arrested and Indicted for Violation of Political Funds Act
Two Individuals Including the Company CEO Who Delivered Money Indicted Without Detention
On the 22nd, the Yeongdeok Branch of Daegu District Prosecutors' Office announced that former Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly member Park Hong-yeol was arrested and indicted on charges of receiving illegal political funds from a company representative (violation of the Political Funds Act).
Park, who was active in the Yeongyang constituency, is accused of receiving illegal political funds amounting to 135 million KRW from the representative of a solar power generation company between February 2021 and February 2022, ahead of the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections. The prosecution confiscated the entire 135 million KRW received by Park. Additionally, two others, including the business representative who handed over the money to Park, were also indicted without detention.

Park submitted his resignation letter to the provincial assembly on the 13th of this month, one day before his arrest.
