Company Name Changed to 'Hancom'
Sovereign Agentic OS to Launch Officially in the First Half of Next Year
"Today, Hancom is breaking away from the mission and formula for success that it has maintained for the past 36 years with our own hands. Becoming a sovereign agentic operating system (OS) company—this is the vision that will lead Hancom for the next 36 years."
Kim Yeonsu, CEO of Hancom, is speaking at the strategic presentation event "Hancom: The Shift" held on the 19th at the Fairmont Hotel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Hancom.

Hancom is changing its company name to "Hancom" for the first time since its founding and is embarking on a global expansion as a sovereign agentic OS company. The goal is to go beyond being an artificial intelligence (AI) technology company to become a global player that guarantees data sovereignty and oversees the operation of AI assistants (agents).
The sovereign agentic OS controls internal organizational data, external AI models, and existing work systems within a single environment. The main demand is expected to come from the public, defense, finance, and healthcare sectors, where it is difficult to entrust data to external cloud services. CEO Kim explained, "This is not simply about isolation from the outside, but about empowering customers with the sovereignty to directly select and control the optimal AI models and systems."
Hancom plans to secure a leading position in the sovereign agentic OS market based on four strengths: ▲ technological completeness ▲ AI transformation (AX) data ▲ 200,000 customer assets ▲ open AX standard architecture. CEO Kim especially emphasized the technological completeness of the sovereign OS. Hancom's strengths lie in its proprietary technology that converts PDF data into AI data to build learning datasets, integrating work tools and systems through Hancom's AI solutions, and managing data sovereignty with proven security control technologies. He noted, "Based on our 36 years of document technology, we can refine data into formats that AI can easily understand and use."
Hancom has set its sights on the European market as its first target, where the demand for AI sovereignty is being institutionalized through the Personal Information Protection Act and the Artificial Intelligence Act. CEO Kim stated, "Europe accounts for 34.2% of the global sovereign AI infrastructure market, making it the largest share," and added, "We are currently in discussions to sign memorandums of understanding with three local partners in Europe."
Along with this transition to a sovereign agentic OS company, Hancom Office will discontinue its traditional yearly package sales and shift to a platform model with real-time updates of AI features. This change is aimed at keeping pace with the rapid evolution of AI and delivering new AI functions to customers' systems as soon as they become available.
Hancom's sovereign agentic OS is targeting an official launch in the first half of next year. CEO Kim explained, "The beta version will be released in June, and it will be validated in actual customer environments in the second half of the year," adding, "Following proof-of-concept (PoC) trials, we are moving forward with the goal of an official release in the first half of next year."
